Providence Catholic High School has announced that 50 students from its Class of 2026 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). This group represents about 30 percent of the graduating class.
“Each year, our students demonstrate exceptional commitment to scholarship and leadership,” said Principal Paul Houston. “Being named an Illinois State Scholar is a remarkable achievement that reflects impressive academic effort along with character, resilience, and dedication to growth. We are tremendously proud of these 50 students. They set a powerful example for our school community, and we look forward to all they will accomplish beyond Providence Catholic.”
The Illinois State Scholar distinction is given annually to high-performing students across the state based on their academic records. The program began in 1958 and aims to recognize sustained academic excellence among high school seniors.
Ms. Huda Hamdan, Director of Counseling at Providence Catholic, commented on the recognition: “Providence Catholic’s strong academic foundation, dedicated faculty, and supportive learning environment help prepare students for success at the next level. The number of Illinois State Scholars we celebrate each year reflects the depth of that preparation and the commitment our students bring to their studies.”
