The Manhattan 114 PTO has invited the Board of Education to their second annual Back to School Bash on August 15th at Manhattan Junior High School, encouraging board participation in activities with local families.
Mrs. Cheryl Donovan reported on a literacy review conducted in June for grades K-8, thanking Joy Kamp from the Will County Regional Office of Education for her leadership. She also mentioned ongoing curriculum refinement efforts ahead of the upcoming school year.
Mrs. Julie Hantson noted that ESY is progressing well, with completion expected in mid-July.
Ms. Cari Rohe shared details about Camp Invention held at Wilson Creek from June 16th-20th, which focused on STEM education with "Discover" as its theme. She praised Brianne Kaluzny for organizing this annual camp.
Assistant Principal Megan Conlin has transitioned out of Wilson Creek, succeeded by Tara Schoppe who recently took over the role.
Mrs. Elise Kirk highlighted ongoing projects at Anna McDonald, including exterior door upgrades and an upcoming gym floor project. She expressed gratitude to Ryan and his team for maintaining facilities over summer break.
Mr. Ryan McWilliams updated on cleaning operations completed by Pure Bright staff and progress on various maintenance projects across district buildings.
Mr. Vince Perillo thanked Mrs. Leppin for her efforts in scheduling students effectively each summer, ensuring appropriate class placements based on individual needs and programs.
The MJHS Demons Fishing Club expressed appreciation to St. Croix Rods and Bass Pro Shop for supporting club members with equipment discounts and donations respectively.
Summer athletic camps saw success thanks to dedicated coaches and staff, with around 200 students participating across eight camps this year.
Music Summer Camps are scheduled from August 11th-22nd, culminating in a performance on the final evening, organized by Mrs. Pedziwater, Ms. Perkne, and Mr. Quiaoit.
MJHS will host its fifth Summer Bridge Program from August 11th-14th aimed at select incoming middle school students to enhance skills such as study techniques and executive functioning before school starts again in fall.
