The State Championship football game that was set for Saturday, November 29, has been postponed. The decision comes after the Illinois State University campus announced it would be closing. At this time, there is no information on when the game will be rescheduled.
In a message to families, school officials said: "Dear Celtic Families, we have been informed that the State Championship football game scheduled for tomorrow, Sat., 11/29, has been postponed due to the Illinois State University campus closing. At this time, no further details are available regarding rescheduling. There will be no assembly Monday, and we will run a 7-period day. We will share updated information with you as soon as the Athletic Office is given updates."
The school also expressed appreciation for the community’s understanding and support of student-athletes: "Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support of our student-athletes."
No new date for the championship has been provided yet. School operations on Monday will proceed with a regular seven-period schedule instead of an assembly.
