Shelby Kozan has been appointed as the new head coach of the Girls’ Track & Field program at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Illinois. Kozan previously served as assistant head coach for the Celtics during the 2024–2025 season.

Kozan expressed enthusiasm about her new position, stating, “I’m so excited to be the head coach for girls’ track & field. This sport has my heart, and I can’t wait to work with our athletes and help them grow individually and as a team.”

Her background includes a notable high school athletic career where she qualified for state meets in several events such as the 100m, 200m, 100m hurdles, long jump, and high jump. She received All-District honors each year from 2006 to 2010 and was named All-State in long jump in 2010. In addition, she placed in the Top 10 at the Arkansas High School Heptathlon in 2009 before competing in cross country at Henderson State University from 2014 to 2016.

Kozan outlined her goals for the upcoming season: “I want every athlete to see progress – whether that’s hitting a new personal record, improving technique, or building confidence,” she said. “I want our girls to be proud of their individual achievements while also strengthening Providence Catholic track & field for the future.”

She also commented on what distinguishes Providence Catholic: “Even in the short time I’ve been part of the Providence community, it’s felt so welcoming. The values, traditions, and support here are amazing. I’m so excited to officially be part of it.”

Providence Catholic High School has welcomed Kozan into her new role and anticipates further development within its Girls’ Track & Field program.
