Manhattan saw no change in number of lawyers in April 2025

There was no change in the number of lawyers with active legal licenses in Manhattan in April compared to the previous month, according to the ARDC of the Supreme Court of Illinois.

Overall, the city had two lawyers with active licenses in April.

Illinois is home to the fifth-largest lawyer population in the U.S., with over 62,000 attorneys, according to the ABA’s 2024 Profile of the Legal Profession.

As of March 2025, the average salary for a starting lawyer in Illinois averages $107,027 per year, which is slightly above the national average.

Data refers to all lawyers who were actively practicing during this time period.
