The Board of Education convened on April 9, 2025, with the meeting now available for public viewing. Notable items from the session include details on the availability of the 2025-2026 school calendar, updates on upcoming events and assessments, and the announcement of several educational activities planned for the district.
Mrs. Kim Maher highlighted a training session on April 10th focused on social-emotional learning, known as CharacterStrong “Brain and Behavior.” This training is aimed at enhancing educators' abilities to manage student behavior and improve school culture. Additionally, she noted the development of communication templates by the Will County Safety Task Force team to streamline family communications.
Mrs. Cheryl Donovan expressed gratitude to the contributors to the successful completion of the 3rd-8th grade ELA and Math assessments. Future insights will be provided once feedback from the Math Learning Committee is evaluated.
Mrs. Julie Hantson announced the upcoming Student Services Community Night on April 23rd at Wilson Creek, while Ms. Cari Rohe recounted the busy March at Wilson Creek, including the successful completion of various school events and activities.
Mrs. Elise Kirk conveyed appreciation for the efforts of contributors to the LW Art Show and the successful conduct of March Madness and other community events. The Pack Council has organized donations for local communities and is coordinating further engagement activities.
Mr. Ryan McWilliams gave updates on examinations such as the ELA & Math tests and the ongoing science assessments, expressing thanks to staff members like Mrs. Barr for their assistance.
Mr. Vince Perillo provided an overview of state testing, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of MJHS staff with new testing platforms. He announced the upcoming induction ceremony for the National Junior Honor Society and shared updates on athletic and artistic endeavors involving students across various disciplines.
Several recognitions and acknowledgments were given to staff and volunteers for their contributions to the district's events and initiatives. Future athletic and arts competitions were also mentioned.
