Mr. Doug Ternik, Athletic Director at Providence Catholic High School, has announced that three football players from the school will continue their athletic careers in college. The athletes, Brenden Grohn, Danny Jones, and Luke Leverett, have committed to different universities.
Brenden Grohn from Joliet will attend Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Grohn has been a key player on the Providence Catholic football team for four years and participated in track and field during his last three years of high school. He also played baseball as a freshman. Grohn plans to major in Business with a minor in Sports Management. "I would like to thank my mom, dad, family, close friends, coaches, and God for helping me get to this point in my athletic career," said Grohn.
Danny Jones from New Lenox is set to join Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Like Grohn, he was part of the football team for four years and played baseball during his first two years at Providence Catholic. Academically successful as well, Jones made it onto the honor roll. He intends to study Business Administration. "I would like to thank Coach Plantz, all the assistant coaches, my mom and dad, and my teammates," said Jones.
Luke Leverett from Frankfort will continue his football journey at the University of Indianapolis in Indiana. Leverett not only played football but also competed in track and field throughout his high school years at Providence Catholic. His accolades include being named All-Conference twice and All-State once among others. Leverett plans to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering while maintaining his academic success on the honor roll consistently during high school. "I would like to thank Coach Plantz, Coach Hryn, Mrs. Martino, and Mrs. Harris," said Leverett.
Ternik expressed pride in these students' achievements both academically and athletically: “We couldn’t be prouder of these outstanding young athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and as leaders in their sport.”
