The Board of Education's January 8, 2025 meeting video is now accessible for public viewing. The meeting covered several key topics, including superintendent and committee reports, the district's annual financial report presented by auditors, and an update from the Math Learning Committee. Special meetings for the superintendent search are scheduled for January 13, 15, and 23.

Mrs. Kim Maher reported that "14 staff members were CPR trained before winter break," forming building Cardiac Emergency Response Teams as per Illinois state requirements effective January 1, 2025. She also highlighted ongoing mentorship for new teachers and planning efforts for upcoming Early Release and Teacher Institute Days.

Mrs. Cheryl Donovan announced that winter benchmarking would occur over the next two weeks with a smooth process ensured by the MTSS team. She mentioned exploration of two math resources: Eureka Squared and Envisions.

Mrs. Julie Hantson praised students' performances in Christmas plays and music programs before the break. Her report included a food drive initiative by students for the Manhattan Food Pantry and commendations to three fifth-grade students who completed a reading challenge during winter break.

Ms. Cari Rohe described activities at Wilson Creek leading up to winter break, including Winter Involvement Day for preschoolers and various themed activities across grades. The month concludes with benchmark testing and professional development sessions.

Mrs. Elise Kirk thanked those involved in holiday shows by music club students and acknowledged contributions from pack council during holidays. She appreciated staff efforts to make December special through diverse activities.

Mr. Ryan McWilliams shared updates on completed maintenance projects over the break, including lighting improvements at AM & MIS schools. He expressed gratitude towards parents volunteering for holiday parties.

Mr. Vince Perillo discussed Winter Benchmark STAR Testing/DESSA Screener processes taking place in January to prepare students ahead of March's IAR Test. He announced plans for hosting an eighth-grade graduation ceremony in June and extended registration deadlines for a seventh-grade Springfield trip.

Mrs. Gina Burlison provided updates on Boys' Basketball teams' progress through their seasons, Girls' Volleyball competitive seasons starting on January 7th, MJHS Wrestlers competing at various meets, and upcoming information about the Bowling team.
